Short answer: BuildingConnected is the stronger choice for bid management when your priority is the subcontractor network and getting invitations to bid in front of more subs. Procore is the stronger choice when you want bidding inside the platform you use to run the project. There, a leveled bid becomes a subcontract and a budget line without re-keying.
The same split holds one level up. Autodesk renamed Autodesk Construction Cloud to Autodesk Forma in March 2026. Forma wraps BuildingConnected with TradeTapp, takeoff and estimating. Procore Preconstruction wraps its bidding tool with Estimating and Prequalification. Both include bid forms and bid leveling. Both vendors are adding AI that reads proposals: Procore markets a Bid Leveling Agent, while Autodesk's Bid Proposal Agent is still a beta.
Consight publishes this comparison. Consight is not a bid management platform or bidder network; it imports projects and bids from both Procore and BuildingConnected and levels the proposals.
Key takeaways
- BuildingConnected leads on bidder network and outreach. Procore's network search is available only to customers in the US and Canada.
- Procore leads on keeping bidding connected to budgets, contracts and field work after award.
- Both level what bidders enter into a bid form. Both vendors now market AI that reads proposal PDFs, Autodesk's still in beta.
- Neither choice is forced: you can invite bidders in BuildingConnected and run projects in Procore.

What does each preconstruction suite include?
Each vendor sells bidding inside a wider preconstruction suite, and Autodesk and Procore build their suites differently.
Autodesk. BuildingConnected Pro is the general contractor's bidding tool: invite subs, collect bids, level them, and report on them. Bid Board Pro is the online bid board for subcontractors, the other side of the same network. TradeTapp handles subcontractor qualification and financial and safety risk. Autodesk sells these with ProEst, Forma Takeoff and Forma Data Management as Forma for Preconstruction.
Autodesk is also bringing bidding into Forma itself. The Bid tool in Forma is in beta for US hubs and requires a Takeoff subscription. It uses the same core API as BuildingConnected Pro.
Procore. Procore Preconstruction is Bid Management, Estimating, Prequalification and BIM inside the same platform as project management and financials. Procore Estimating does quantity takeoff and estimates from a database of parts and assemblies, and Procore pitches the flow "from estimate, to bid, to contract and financials" in one system. Procore Bid Management pulls project info, drawings and specs into bid packages and turns awarded bids into commitments that update the project budget.
How do the bidder networks compare?
This is the clearest difference between the two. Autodesk describes BuildingConnected as the largest crowd-sourced network of over 1.5 million construction professionals, plus a recommendation engine for finding subs. If your problem is coverage, that network is the main reason to choose BuildingConnected.
Procore starts from your own company directory. It adds the Procore Construction Network as a second bidder source, which you can filter by trade, service area, business classification, union membership and performance ratings. Procore says the feature is available in English for customers in the United States and Canada only. If your subs already live in your Procore directory, that is often enough.
How does bid leveling compare?
Both tools level what bidders enter into your bid form.
- Procore lets an admin on the project's Bidding tool include or exclude line items, edit amounts, toggle alternates, add private line items and notes, and see the change history. The bid package must be newer than October 2023 and have response types set up. The Bid Leveling Agent compares proposals against specs and drawings and surfaces missing scope and price gaps.
- BuildingConnected lets you add plugs to adjust a line item's value, with a note and a color; subs never see them. On the AI side, Autodesk's Bid Proposal Agent, a beta in Forma's Bid tool, keeps each proposal PDF linked to the pricing and scope it extracts so the estimator can correct it.
Either way, the comparison is only as good as what the sub typed into the form. Subs who attach their own proposal instead are where estimators hit limits; see BuildingConnected bid leveling limitations and how Procore bid leveling works.
What happens after award?
In Procore, an awarded bid converts to a subcontract or purchase order on the same project, and Procore says the award updates the project's Budget tool immediately. In Autodesk, BuildingConnected connects to Autodesk Build Cost Management to turn winning bids into contracts. Autodesk now sells Autodesk Build as Forma Build.
If your company runs projects in Procore, the bid record is already where the PMs work. If it runs projects in Autodesk, the reverse is true.
How much do Procore and BuildingConnected cost for bidding?
Neither Procore nor Autodesk publishes a dollar price for bidding. Both sell by quote. Procore prices by the dollar value of the work you build. Autodesk prices BuildingConnected by users, projects or account.
| Procore Bid Management | BuildingConnected Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Published price | None; Procore offers a custom quote | None; Autodesk says request a quote |
| What sets the price | An upfront annual fee by product, based on Annual Construction Volume | User, project and account-based pricing |
| Users | Unlimited, with no charge for added users | Not stated on the pricing page |
| Bundle | Bid Management sits in Procore Preconstruction with Estimating, Prequalification and BIM | Sold alone or in Forma for Preconstruction with Bid Board Pro, TradeTapp, ProEst, Forma Takeoff and Forma Data Management |
| What subcontractors pay to bid | No fee stated; bidders can reply to the invitation email with the bid attached | Bid Board is free for subcontractors; Bid Board Pro is paid |
Procore defines Annual Construction Volume as "the aggregate dollar value of the construction work across your projects." So a Procore quote grows with the work a general contractor builds, not with its headcount. Procore says it will "never charge you for adding more users." Its one exception is Field Productivity, which Procore prices by full-time employees.
Autodesk's BuildingConnected pricing page lists BuildingConnected Pro for general contractors, Bid Board Pro for subcontractors, and TradeTapp, each by quote. Forma for Preconstruction bundles six products at one price, also by quote. For what is free and how Autodesk quotes BuildingConnected Pro, see is BuildingConnected worth it.
Procore vs Autodesk Construction Cloud: which platform fits?
Pick by where the rest of your work lives:
- Autodesk (Forma) fits when the team already models in Revit and coordinates in Autodesk, and when bid coverage from a large open network matters most.
- Procore fits when the field and project teams already work in Procore and you want one record from bid to subcontract to change order.
Running both is also an option: a firm can keep design and coordination in Autodesk and project management in Procore, rather than force one platform to do both jobs.
Which bid management software fits which GC?
There is no single best tool; it depends on what is slowing your bids down. In no particular order, and with Consight last because it does a different job:
| If your main need is… | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reaching more subs on each package | BuildingConnected | 1.5 million+ professionals on the network |
| Bidding inside your project management system | Procore Bid Management | Bids become subcontracts and budget lines in the same platform |
| Finding projects to bid as well as inviting subs | ConstructConnect | 825,000+ active commercial projects and a network of 450,000+ professionals |
| Inviting from your own private sub list | SmartBid (part of ConstructConnect) | Built around managing your private subcontractor database and plan room |
| Posting projects at no cost | PlanHub | Free project posting to 400,000+ subcontractors |
| Leveling the proposals that come in, from either platform | Consight, alongside the above | Imports from Procore and BuildingConnected and levels each proposal against your scope sheet |

Where does Consight fit with Procore and BuildingConnected?
Consight works with both. Connect Procore or BuildingConnected once and import the project. The bid packages, bid forms, bids and their attached files come across in one pass (from Procore, each package's first bid form). With BuildingConnected, new bids keep arriving on their own. Both connections are import only.
Consight then reads each subcontractor proposal, maps it to your scope sheet, flags exclusions and missing scope, and links extracted numbers back to the proposal they came from.

Frequently asked questions
Is BuildingConnected part of Procore?
No. BuildingConnected is owned by Autodesk. Procore is a separate company with its own bidding tools.
Is Autodesk Construction Cloud the same as BuildingConnected?
No. BuildingConnected is one product in what was Autodesk Construction Cloud, now Autodesk Forma. The preconstruction side also includes Bid Board Pro, TradeTapp, ProEst and Forma Takeoff, and the project side includes Forma Build (formerly Autodesk Build).
Can I use Procore and BuildingConnected together?
Yes. Many general contractors invite bidders in BuildingConnected and run projects in Procore. Consight imports from both, so bid leveling happens in one place.
Which has better bid leveling, Procore or BuildingConnected?
It depends on how your bidders respond. Both compare what bidders enter into a bid form. For reading the proposals themselves, Procore markets a Bid Leveling Agent, and Autodesk's Bid Proposal Agent is in beta. Test either on your own packages. Teams that bid through both platforms, or want proposals leveled against their own scope sheet, often add a dedicated tool such as Consight.
